 Dear (Name):

As you know, my position was eliminated when (company) experienced numerous layoffs. I am looking to stay in the (type of) industry and, ideally, remain in the (location) area. My dream job would be another (title) position, focused on (two or three key job functions).

I would appreciate any advice, contacts, or industry insights you can share with me. I’ve also attached my resume – please feel free to pass it along to anyone you think may be interested in it. If you know of a company that is looking to grow (or fill) its (position/industry) staff, please let me know.

Highlights of my qualifications include:

  • List a second accomplishment.
  • List a third accomplishment.
